Dates and Times

The Board of Directors meets monthly, between September and June. Board meetings run approximately one hour in length. We meet virtually for most meetings except for the AGM and September Board meeting (same day) and the last meeting before Summer break.

Required Qualifications

Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, audits, and government filings.

Position Responsibilities

Applicants should be proficient in or have experience in the following: Financial Management: ● Develop and maintain the Victim Services budget in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. ● Oversee financial planning and ensure alignment with the service’s goals and mission. ● Monitor cash flow and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with policy and procedures. ● Manage banking relationships, including opening and closing accounts, and overseeing investments if applicable. Financial Reporting: ● Prepare regular financial reports for the board of directors, detailing the organization's financial status, income, expenses, and variances from budget. ● Present financial reports at board meetings and provide explanations for any discrepancies or significant changes. ● Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure compliance with auditing standards and regulatory requirements. Internal Controls: ● Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and prevent fraud or misuse of funds. ● Review and approve financial policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and adhered to by staff. ● Conduct periodic audits or reviews to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and make recommendations for improvement. Fundraising and Grant Management: ● Collaborate with the fundraising committee to develop fundraising strategies and initiatives. ● Monitor fundraising activities and track revenue from various sources, including donations, grants, and events. ● Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting deadlines, including the submission of accurate financial reports and documentation
