Required Qualifications

Minimum Age: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Application Form: Complete and submit the Volunteer Application Form, including references. The Application is on our website - www.ryandale.ca Interview: Participate in an informal interview with the Volunteer Coordinator or Operations Director to determine suitability and placement. Orientation & Training: Participate in any role-specific training required for your volunteer assignment, including confidentiality, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction practices. Commitment Varies Depending on what is the volunteer role is. It can be a one time class, or ongoing each week or month. Confidentiality Agreement: Volunteers are required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement to protect the privacy and dignity of our residents. Professional Conduct: Volunteers are expected to demonstrate respect, empathy, and uphold Ryandale’s values of inclusivity, dignity, and support for all residents.

Position Responsibilities

Meet with residents one-on-one or in small groups to teach life skills such as: Budgeting and money management Basic cooking and meal planning Resume writing and job interview preparation Time management and organization Goal setting and problem-solving strategies Share personal insights, practical tips, and encouragement Model positive communication, responsibility, and respect Work collaboratively with Ryandale staff to support residents’ goals Maintain appropriate boundaries and uphold confidentiality
