The CFAC is an important initiative at AMHS-KFLA that harnesses the expertise of lived experience by providing clients and their loved ones with a voice and opportunity to influence services at the agency. This advisory council supports the improvement of services, the development and advancement of new initiatives, and ensures that we continue a client-centred approach to care.

Client & Family Advisory Council

Dates and Times

• Meetings are held monthly for 12 months a year and are typically 2 hours in duration. • The role generally requires a commitment of 3-5 hours per month • The term of membership is one year. Members may seek to renew their memberships annually.

Required Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS • Over 16 years of age • Identify with lived or living experiences of mental illness or addiction • An impacted family member of those with mental illness or addiction SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Ability to listen and communicate effectively with others • Interpersonal skills • Ability to independently complete assigned tasks • Feel comfortable speaking in a group setting with candor

Position Responsibilities

Members of the CFAC will meet regularly to discuss and advise on matters of policy, program implementation, and the client experience at AMHS. The council frequently discusses matters in the community and the impact on our clients and agency. This group is a solution-focused advisory initiative.
