Gift Shop Sales Associate

The volunteer in this role will volunteer for 3 hours, once a week during the hours of 9:30-3:30 Monday to Friday to support the daily operation of the gift shop. There will be a need to interact/assist clients, families and staff with purchases as well as handling money and having an understanding of the current merchandise.

Dates and Times

Shifts are 3 hours in length, once a week

Required Qualifications

Friendly, daytime availability, basic math skills, ability to stand for longer periods of time

Position Responsibilities

Performs opening and closing duties (with a partner), assist with the organization and tidiness of the gift shop, assist in displaying and stocking merchandise on shelves as needed and engage clients, families, and visitors in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Be knowledgeable of all merchandise in addition to their prices as well as assist clients, families, and visitors to find appropriate merchandise to suit their needs when required. You will receive payment for merchandise and balances register at the end of the shift.

Volunteer Benefits

Through their work in this role, they will be fundraising for the Comfort fund, as the gift shop is not-for-profit. They will be raising money to support patients, clients and residents for items such as clothing, medical equipment not covered by OHIP or other insurance, help make end-of-life wishes come true, increase quality of life for the people we serve and gain retail experience. Each day will have interactions with clients, families and staff; sure to bring a smile to your face.
