The Community Garden Volunteer supports AMHS-KFLA’s mission to promote mental wellness and community connection by helping maintain and beautify our community garden. This role contributes to providing a therapeutic outdoor space for clients, staff, and the community.

Flexible based on volunteer availability

Required Qualifications

• Passion for gardening, the outdoors, and community engagement • Willingness to work in various weather conditions • Ability to perform light physical labor (lifting, bending, standing) • Reliability and punctuality and self-directed • Friendly, respectful, and inclusive attitude Not required, but helpful to have: • Knowledge of organic or sustainable gardening practices • Experience with community or therapeutic gardens • Background in horticulture, social services, or health and wellness

Position Responsibilities

• Assist with planting, watering, weeding, mulching, pruning, and harvesting • Maintain garden beds, paths, and surrounding areas to ensure they are clean and safe • Support composting and sustainable gardening practices • Report any issues related to pests, vandalism, or maintenance needs • Optionally engage with AMHS-KFLA clients during garden-based programs or therapeutic sessions (if comfortable and appropriate) • Attend volunteer orientation and periodic check-ins with staff designate
