Kitchen helpers aid in the creation of take-away meals for the clients of Lunch by George. Kitchen Helper

Dates and Times

We generally ask volunteers to come one weekday per week, though they can come in for more shifts if they choose to, as kitchen space allows. We are currently looking for Monday, Tuesday, and Friday morning shifts.

Required Qualifications

Satisfactory vulnerable sector check.

Position Responsibilities

A typical volunteer shift is 08:30-12:30 on one weekday a week, according to staffing needs. Start and end times can be modified at the discretion of the program coordinator. Kitchen helpers aid our program coordinator in creating healthy and nutritious meals, which usually include a main course, salad or vegetable, one side, dessert or snack, and a piece of fruit. Volunteers are matched with tasks according to their skill level. Common tasks include: making salad, preparing vegetables, washing dishes, buttering buns, packaging meals, and handing meals out to the clients from our take-out window.

Volunteer Benefits

We hope our volunteers gain a greater understanding of the diverse needs of the vulnerable people in our community, and a sense of satisfaction in helping to feed those most in need.
