Community Friend

Dates and Times

It depends on the activity you engage in with your friend. Going to a movie may take more time then going for a short walk as an example.

Required Qualifications

* Commitment - to showing up for planned meet ups * Initiative - you may have to be the one initiating and organizing meet ups * Willingness to learn and adapt * Positive attitude

Position Responsibilities

You'll provide someone with friendship and the opportunity to get out and about in our community. Provide company, support and sometimes encouragement. Meet up with your friend, preferably weekly but could be every other week for one to three hours, depending on the activity. You will receive person specific information about the person with whom you are matched and you will have any support needed from Community Living.

Volunteer Benefits

Volunteers can have a meaningful impact on someone who has an intellectual disability while getting personal satisfaction from helping others access our community. Develop new skills, and enhance existing attributes. Volunteering is a useful addition to your CV or application for further educational opportunities.
