Education & Literacy

We need volunteers who are have an interest in education and youth with experience and interest in working as part of a team to guide and support frontline staff. Volunteers will be asked to support the growth and development of our organization in areas where they have specific interest and skills.

Dates and Times

The minimum time commitment is 4 hours a month from September to June. This includes preparing for and attending a monthly Board meeting estimated as a two- three hours commitment and two-hours of additional support in your area of interest. A greater commitment of time, based on your area of interest would, be appreciated. Meeting times will be determined by the availability of members. We hope to move to more face-to-face meetings at our 847 Princess Street location. Monthly on-line meetings have been the most regular format. Current Board meetings are at 4:30 on the first Monday of the month.

Required Qualifications

No specific qualifications or certifications required. Experience in education, marketing, leadership, finance or grant writing an asset. Ability to listen, understand, reflect and to contribute to discussions and activities valued.

Position Responsibilities

Volunteers will initially actively support and potentially eventually guide one of key areas of responsibilities: program development and delivery, grant writing, marketing, fundraising, finance and policy review and revisions. We have an opening for a vice-chair.
