Job Purpose: To help clean and maintain the building and parking lot. To great any donors that have arrived and help them unload vehicles when possible. This job will be broken down into multiple roles with two shifts per day. Monday – 9am-12pm and 12pm -2pm Tuesday - 9am-12pm and 12pm -2pm Wednesday - 9am-12pm and 12pm -2pm Thursday - 9am-12pm and 12pm -2pm Friday - 9am-12pm and 12pm -2pm When all tasks are complete the volunteer can head out for the day. The times are a guideline for volunteers to know how long they may be in for.

Position Responsibilities

Job Duties: • Cleaning the building – a list of duties will be provided. Cleaning bathrooms, floors, kitchen, • Rake and clean up garbage in yard if necessary. In the winter, shovel snow if necessary as well as salt ice. • Helping with lawn maintenance under supervision of staff. We have off site grass that will need to be maintained. This will happen on certain days not all days. • Greet donors in parking lot when you can and politely and express thankfulness for any donations offered to St. Vincent de Paul. Give assistance bringing donations to the bay area. If required (i.e., elder person), bring all donations into the bay area. • If any clients want to help bring donations in, ensure you make first contact with the donor and the clients do not take the donations somewhere other than the bay. If clients ask if they can have one of the items donated, explain it must go through the sorting table first. • Direct traffic in parking lot. This includes directing vehicles into parking spots or to the bay doors. At times, you may need to direct vehicles in a spot that may block other vehicles. If it is a donor this is allowed as they will not be blocking other vehicles for long. • Cut up boxes in preparation for recycling. Empty recycling bin from the meal program building. • Inform staff if any type of disruption in yard (i.e., arguments, fights, individuals using drugs, etc.). Do not approach unless staff have asked for your assistance.
