Martha's Table Community Program, located in Kingston, Ontario, is a cherished free restaurant dedicated to serving the Kingston community. Each day, we provide over 400 meals to those in need, fostering a sense of community and support for our guests. Our mission is to offer nutritious meals in a warm and welcoming environment, ensuring that everyone has access to a dignified dining experience. To help us continue this vital service, we are seeking dedicated volunteers to join our team. As a Weekend volunteer at Martha's Table Community Program, you will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth and efficient day working either the early and late shifts on weekends. You will assist in meal preparation for the upcoming week and maintain cleanliness, including dishwashing duties and operating the take-out window.

Shift Commitment: Attend scheduled shifts punctually and reliably, whether it be the early shift (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM) or the late shift (11:00 AM - 3:00 PM). Required Qualifications

Qualifications: Passion for Service: A genuine willingness to serve others and contribute to a welcoming dining environment with empathy and compassion. Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, staff, and fellow volunteers in a dynamic and fast-paced setting. Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and prioritizing tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations during peak hours. Hygiene Conscious: Respect for hygiene and safety protocols, including adherence to food handling guidelines and wearing required attire for food service. Reliability: Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in attending scheduled shifts, with a commitment to supporting the community through consistent volunteer service. Must be at least 14 years old - 14 and 15 years old a parent or guardian must accompany on site. over 16 may volunteer with parent or guardian permission

Position Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: Food Service and Take-Out Window Operation: Take orders, serve meals, and manage the take-out window efficiently to provide a warm and efficient dining experience for our clients. Ensure accuracy in orders and address any special requests or dietary needs. Meal Preparation: Assist in meal preparation for the upcoming week, including food portioning, packaging, and labeling. Follow food safety guidelines and ensure all meals are prepared with care and attention to detail. Hygiene and Safety: Adhere strictly to hygiene standards, including wearing required attire such as aprons, hair nets or hats, and gloves. Maintain a clean and organized work area, sanitizing surfaces regularly to ensure the safety of our clients and volunteers. Dishwashing and Cleaning: Assist with dishwashing duties as needed to maintain cleanliness and efficiency in the kitchen.
