Martha's Table Community Program, located in Kingston, Ontario, is a cherished free restaurant dedicated to serving the Kingston community. Each day, we provide over 400 meals to those in need, fostering a sense of community and support for our guests. Our mission is to offer nutritious meals in a warm and welcoming environment, ensuring that everyone has access to a dignified dining experience. To help us continue this vital service, we are seeking dedicated volunteers to join our team as Kitchen Assistants. Position Summary: As a Kitchen Assistant at Martha's Table, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our kitchen operations run smoothly. You will be responsible for various tasks, including assisting with meal prep, organizing donations, maintaining cleanliness, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our kitchen service.

Dates and Times

Preference is a 4 hours shift commitment once a week. Attend scheduled shifts punctually and reliably; if unable to make a shift, communicate as soon as possible to allow time for finding a replacement. Required Qualifications

ualifications: A willingness to serve others and contribute to a welcoming kitchen environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic setting. Respect for hygiene and safety protocols, including wearing required attire. Reliable and punctual. Safe Food Handling is a PLUS!

Position Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Assist with meal prep tasks, including chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and ensuring all items are ready for cooking. Hygiene and Safety: Adhere to strict hygiene standards by wearing an apron, hair net or hat, and gloves when handling food. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Donation Management: Help put away donations and ensure all items are stored properly and organized for easy access. Dishwashing: Assist with dishwashing duties and wash dishes as needed to maintain a clean and efficient workspace. Safety Awareness: Never put yourself in harm's way; report any safety or security concerns to the kitchen supervisor on duty.
