Qualifications: We are looking for individuals who: • Are familiar with and supportive of KIH’s Vision, Mission, Values, and Guiding Principles. • Have knowledge of or commitment to learning about governance, policy development, advocacy, finance, planning, evaluation, communications, or community needs. • Are committed to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and MIPA principles. • Are willing to dedicate approximately 10 hours per month to Board activities. • Can work constructively and collegially with others. Position Responsibilities

Key Duties: As a Board Member, you will: • Act in the best interest of KIH and govern, rather than manage, the organization. • Envision the future and help set policies, strategies, and long-term plans. • Ensure the organization has the resources it needs, including adequate funding. • Support, contribute to, and assist with fundraising activities. • Provide connections to members and the broader community. • Participate in Board committees and approve committee terms of reference. • Monitor finances and ensure programs and services are evaluated. • Hire, support, evaluate, and, if necessary, terminate the Executive Director, delegating appropriately. • Attend Board meetings, the Annual General Meeting, and KIH-sponsored events. • Contribute to positive relationships among internal and external stakeholders. • Come prepared for meetings, participate actively in discussions, and serve for the elected term.
