Queen's University Health Sciences Experiential Learning Centre is currently recruiting Volunteer Patients to support hands-on learning for students in medicine, nursing, and rehabilitation therapy. Volunteer Patients play an important role in healthcare education by sharing their real-life healthcare experiences and perspectives with students in medicine, nursing, and rehabilitation therapy. Volunteers participate in hands-on educational sessions that may include simulated clinical interviews and/or non-diagnostic, non-invasive physical examinations. These sessions give students the opportunity to practice communication, clinical, and interpersonal skills in a supportive and supervised learning environment. No medical expertise or specific health condition is required to become a Volunteer Patient. Volunteers of diverse ages, backgrounds, and experiences are welcome. Whether you participate occasionally or become a regular volunteer, your time and experiences can make a meaningful contribution to the education of future healthcare professionals. We offer free parking or transportation for eligible volunteers. Anyone interested in learning more or getting involved can contact us at patientparticipants@queensu.ca or (613)533-6000 x 79633.
