The Board supports K4Paws's work and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While a governance role is a priority, it is recognized that we are still operating as an Operational Board. Board members typically spend 10-15 hours/month supporting K4Paws. Board meetings are primarily held via videoconferencing, with a few in-person meetings over a year.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for Board members with: Charitable board experience Finance IT Marketing

Position Responsibilities

Position responsibilities include: 1. determining the mission of the organization and understanding its collective purpose 2. approving the annual budget, accounting/audit reports, and material business decisions 3. selecting, supporting, and evaluating the performance of any paid contractors /staff 4. strategic and organizational planning 5. ensuring fiduciary solid oversight and financial management 6. fundraising and resource development 7. approving and monitoring the organization’s programs and services 8. enhancing the organization’s relationship with the community 9. assessing its performance as the governing body of the organization 10. ensuring legal compliance and ethical integrity

Volunteer Benefits

K4Paws is a small but mighty organization that has placed over 60 trained service dogs in Southeastern Ontario since its inception. Volunteers can expect to learn how service dogs impact lives, see the tangible results of their work, and meet puppies in training during in-person board meetings.
